6 Design & Decorating Tips for a Furnished Apartment

So, you’re moving into a fully furnished condo, home or apartment and it has come fully furnished. No matter how long you are planning to stay here, you may want to add some personal touches to the place to make it feel like home.

With all of the furniture already in your home, this can be a little bit tricky, but with our tips, you will have no problems at all. When it comes to decorating a fully furnished apartment, you can have just as much fun as if you had a completely blank canvas to work with. Read on to learn more about the design and decorating tips.

1. Take a good look around

By pausing to give your new home a once-over before you begin you will be able to get a sense of what you like and what you don’t. You will also be able to identify the colour palette that you’re working with. To help identify this you should look at the floor or carpet colour, as well as the colour of the walls and furniture. Now you will be able to shop for a few accents to add to the place that will enrich this colour scheme, and not clash with it. The good news is that the vast majority of fully furnished rental properties will come with a well-designed colour base so that you will have no problem building on top of this base.

2. Pick out a rug

When it comes to a rug, this can be a great opportunity to make the place your own. There are many different designs and colours available so finding a rug that is your style and matches the existing colour scheme of the condo will not be too challenging. Rugs are easy to remove as well so when it comes time to move you will be able to roll it up and take it with you no problem at all.

3. You don’t need to buy anything

Sometimes all you need to do is to move some furniture around to give your home a really nice, new feel. Just because the fully furnished condo has all of the furniture moved in, it doesn’t mean that you can’t move things around until you’re happy with the layout. Unless the landlord has explicitly said that you can’t. As long as you’re careful not to damage the floors or the walls as you move things around you will be well on your way to making the place feel like home.

4. Think outside the box

There are many inexpensive ways that you can make your fully furnished apartment feel like your home. If you don’t like the colour of your couch then you can simply buy a throw to go over the top of it. This will not only hide the colour of the couch that you don’t like, it will also protect the couch from any spilled drinks. You can also dress up tables with tablecloths that you like. The aim of the game is to be creative and look for opportunities to change the look of your new home.

5. Add personal touches

The additions that you make to the place don’t need to be so large as a throw or a new rug. You can just as easily bring a few personal items from your old home. This can be anything from some artwork or a sculpture that you like. When it comes to hanging things from the wall you may not be able to unless it is light enough that you can use a method that will leave no permanent marks or holes in the walls.

6. Flowers

This is something small that can really make your new place feel like home. You’ll be able to pick out a vase that you like, or even bring one with you that you already love. Flowers and plants can help to improve the air quality in your home too.
