7 Stylish Living Room Ideas with TV as the Focus

Your living room ideas should reflect who you are as a person and as a budding (or experienced) interior designer. It should be a place (or the place) where you can relax and unwind after a long day in the office.

One of the ways in which a lot of people like to relax and kick back these days is watching something on their TV. Whether it’s a reality show, a docudrama, a DVD, a TV show, or a great movie, there’s so much you can do and check out on your television! You may not want your living room turned into an entertainment center, but you do want to watch your favorite shows no problem.

With all that in mind, we’ve come up with a list of great tips for incorporating living room ideas with TV:

Idea #1: Utilize a TV stand

A television stand is one of the best living room ideas with TV as the main focus. TV stands are an awesome way to conveniently display your television and have it available whenever the urge to rewatch your favorite Disney movie hits you.

There are a plethora of flat screen TV stands in almost any colour, shape, size, and style. Whatever the aesthetic of your living room is, there’s a TV stand that can match it (or come pretty close). Invest in a sturdy stand and let the viewing begin!

Idea #2: Make your TV stand versatile

If you’re someone who lives by the mantra ‘waste not, want not’, then you may be shaking your head over the thought of buying a piece of furniture for the sole purpose of displaying your TV. Well, you don’t have to worry! Purchase a TV stand that comes with drawers and other types of storage space underneath. This is a great living room idea that marries the storage space and your TV placement harmonious together. There are plenty of TV stands in the market – just start looking!

Idea #3: Invest in a TV cabinet with doors

So you want your TV in your living room, but you don’t want it to always be visible? Well, then why not purchase a cupboard, cabinet, bookshelf, or other piece of furniture that will fit your TV–but that also has doors that will hide your TV when it’s not in use? Plus, the furniture that you buy will probably have other storage spaces (or should) so that will also be a help!

Idea #4: Purchase chairs that are easy to move

Sometimes, you might want to have your TV displayed, but you don’t want to always be looking at it when it’s not actually in use. If that’s the case, then invest in some chairs for your living room that are easy to move around.

Light, pretty armchairs are a great choice! Comfortable and convenient. That way, you can have the furniture grouped around, say, your coffee table and then quickly turn the seating around when you want to watch something. You could also have some stools, bean bags, and (classy) swivel chairs in your living room as well for the same purpose!

Idea #5: Use a built-in bookshelf

Has your living room come with a built-in bookshelf? If not, you should install one for your TV! And if it has come with one, then you should consider using it to display/downplay your TV! A built-in bookshelf is a great living room idea to keep your television from taking over the room while also allowing you ease of access and viewing when wanted. Be sure to decorate the bookshelf with Abbott decor and other accessories.

Idea #6: Hide your TV behind a sliding panel

Again, this idea is about keeping your television out of sight until it’s actually needed/wanted. Keep your TV tucked into a cozy nook with a sliding door panel so that you can focus on your family, guests, or simply a good book without being tempted to watch TV all the time. After all…out of sight, out of mind–right?

Idea #7: Mount your TV on the wall

If you’d really like your television to be out of the way, then mounting it on the wall could be your best bet. This will free up space in the living room itself to have the seating, accents, tables, bookshelves, lamps, and so on. You won’t have to set aside a stand, a desk, a shelf, or anything like that for your TV to set on. Instead, you can simply have it mounted on the wall and leave it at that!

Just make sure that you get your TV installed properly (preferably by a professional, though you may be able to DIY it if you have the skills). The last thing you want is for your huge, gorgeous TV to come crashing to the ground–injuring itself and possibly others.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a wall-mounted TV could potentially draw attention away from the living room in general when your guests first walk in. Just something to keep in mind! But don’t let us discourage you from hanging your TV on the wall if that’s what you’d like to do–it can be a great thing.
